School - Citrus Fruit FAQ

FREQUENTLY
ASKED
QUESTIONS

Where and when can I pick up my fruit?
The fruit can be picked up at the gymnasium of the Stanley SDA School on US 340. The fruit will normally be available for pickup between 9:00 AM and 3:00 PM on the day it is scheduled for delivery.

There may be additional hours for pickup in some months. The shipment from Florida is sometimes late and this changes the pickup schedule. The callers who take orders will always call their customer’s (who have ordered fruit) on the day of delivery to confirm the fruit pickup schedule. If you cannot come during the scheduled pickup time arrange for someone else to pickup your fruit or call during the normal pickup hours to make a special arrangement.

Are there different sizes of the fruit available?
Yes. We receive an assortment of sizes which varies depending on the crop in Florida. We have no control over the assortment we recieve. There are usually fewer of the largest sizes. Customers who pickup their fruit early will have the most choice of sizes.

What are the sizes available?
The fruit sizes are specified by the number of pieces that come in the 4/5 bushel box. Navel orange sizes (smallest to largest) are 80, 64, 56, 48 per box. Grapefruit sizes are (smallest to largest) 40, 36, 32, 27, 23.

Can I get the size fruit I want?
Maybe. Since we have no control over the size of fruit we receive we do not accept orders for sizes or guarantee that a customer will get a particular size.

Why does my fruit look like its not ripe?
Ripe citrus will often have some green coloration. Some citrus fruit is treated with coloring. Our citrus fruit is not.

What should I do if some of my fruit is spoiled?
We will replace fruit that is spoiled if customers report the spoilage within 5-days of picking up their fruit. Since we can not anticipate spoilage quantities we will normally replace spoiled fruit from the next shipment (approximately one month later).
